I have a D500 from NIkon and I've recorded some video clips with it, but I can't seem to open them up with Sony Vegas 6, the audio plays but the video won't show up, do I need to install a special codec?

Wrong video format for vegas 6. Your might want to upgrade your editing program.

Dear its not video format. Format is correct. I f it was format issue then you would see? On video file. Since its playing only with audio then its issue of resolution. Different mobiles have different screen resolutions likeā€¦ 176*220, 320*240, 160*120 etc. If you don't know your mobile's resolution just use 128*96 SQCIF. It supports most mobile phones. You have to use video converter for this. Best software for this is http://www.aone-soft.com/flv_to_avi_mpeg_wmv_3gp_mp4_ipod_converter.htm
This is not free. I could have sent it to you with activation key if i had your mail.

Nikon D500 is a digital camera and i don't know its video format. Common video formats applied in digital cameras is.mts, .m2ts,.mod, .tod. Or some SLR cameras can record videos directly in AVI format, etc. So if you can tell me more information about your camera video format, i can help you to solve it quickly. Anyway, I recommend you to try the ArcSoft ShowBiz, because whatever your camera video format is, it works with them well.
