Can I use this lens with my camera? 85mm on Nikon D7000?

I have a Nikon D7000 right now and wondering if I could use the Nikon 85mm 1.4 lens with it? I know I will have to back up quite a bit to get the shot, but will the photos be just as good as they would on a full frame?

I'm also looking into getting the Nikon 24-70mm lens, how would that work on my D7000?

I can only afford one lens right now, and need a nice lens more than a full frame like the D700. If I got the D700 instead I wouldn't be able to get any lenses to compliment it.

Should I get one of these lenses for my D7000?

The 85 1.4 AF-S & AF and 24-70 will work fine with your camera. You should consider renting them both and seeing which one you find more useful. Definitely buy a new lens instead of a new camera.

The 24-70mm is aimed at the FX bodies. You may need more wide angle than it can offer for group shots in particuler. I don't think it would be wide enough for many shots, re weddings.

I have a 17-55mm f2.8 and a 70-200mm f2.8 and they are both belters.
These two lenses are pretty much all you need for the job.

One thing to remember, if using flash, is to watch out for the lens hoods causing shadow. Use off camera if possible.

On the 85mm front, I just use a 50mm f1.4 instead. It gives great results.
