Can i use the af nikkor 28-85mm f/3.5-4.5 with my old d3000 Nikon camera?
and what "cheap" similar to this lens you suggest me?

Nope. Look for "AF-S" in the lens designation and you know it will work with your camera.

The newer AF-S 24-85 would work: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/...5G_ED.html

Check out the Nikkor 18-105 for a somewhat cheaper alternative that doesn't give up too much in aperture: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/...ED_VR.html

Any Nikkor lens will mount on your d3000.

But only lenses designed for use on digital cameras will function with the automation in your camera.

In this case, you can use the lens in manual mode only. It works, but it's not very convenient.

Monophoto is correct. It will mount to your camera body and take the shot, but the features may not function.

Yes it will work, but if it is not AF-S, it will not autofocus.

The lens will mount properly and will meter w/ your 3000, but it will not autofocus.

Other than the lack of AF, it will work 100% fine.

Get an 18-55 VR instead.
