Any news on upgrade of d700?

Anyone here any news on this? I have had the money now for about a month to buy a d700 with a 24-70 2.8 but i'm waiting on news about an upgrade first. I was told by a friend he heard that nikon has some upgrade announcements in mid February but i'm not sure.

I bought a D700 w/ 24-70 combo last week, so Nikon will probably announce a replacement model today ;-) Btw, the high ISO capabilities and large viewfinder are a real joy after using a D200 (w/ 17-55mm) for five years.

The February 9 announcement could be it, but probably not: http://nikonrumors.com. There's no real information on the net - just wishful thinking and speculation. All we know is that the D700 is two and a half years old ( http://www.dpreview.com/...eview.com/news/0807/08070103nikond700previewed.asp#press" rel='nofollow' class='ext_link'>http://www.dpreview.com/....asp#press ) and that Nikon has so far stuck with a four year cycle for their self-professed pro dSLRs with the occasional "s" model released midway. That would make it 6 months late for an update (a D700s with the D3s sensor?) or 18 months early for a replacement.

If you can afford to wait, wait. Prices of used D700 cameras will eventually drop. If you need clean ISO 3200 files now, get a D700 and start taking them.
