Any idea which dslr i should upgrade to?

So i have owned a canon 1000d for the past 2.5 years but lately it just randomly shuts off and for some reason its starting to take a good 5 mins to buffer a picture so i'm upgrading with a 600 euro budget i was decided on the 600d but then i seen the d5100 i'm looking at the reviews of both and the only difference is a higher iso and shutter speed on the nikon but now i'm stuck i like the 2 cameras but i just can't decide do you guys know which one i should pick or even recommend a different dslr please help

I would have Canon fix my 1000D. Get an estimate.
