Will Nikkor/Tameron Lenses work on my Nikon D3000?

I'm just starting in Photography and have just bought a Nikon D3000 for a start off point.
If I decided to purchase additional Lens, will any Nikkor/Tameron Lens work on my D3000 if i purchase them is DX?

Any AF-S Nikkor lens will work 100% with your D3000.AF lenses will not auto focus on your D3000. Any Tamron or Sigma lens that specifies "for Nikon" and "with built-in AF motor" will work 100% with your camera.

New Tamron lenses will almost certainly work, as do their Sigma equivalents, check that they have built-in motors.
You need Nikon AF-S lenses to give you autofocus, though, AF Nikon lenses have no motors, relying on the body motor you don't have.

The D3000 can use either DX or FX lenses but they have to be AF-S lenses or a generic like a Tamron that has an auto-focus motor in it. A quick check at the Tamron website shows that they may not have a large selection of lenses with auto-focus motors in them.
Take a look at the lenses sold by Tokina. Of all the generic lens makers, they make the best lenses
Eventually all lenses (excepts specialty lenses like the so called tilt-shift lenses) will have on-board auto-focus motors because they are the fastest at auto-focusing.

Here's a complete list (to be updated regularly) of lenses that will mount, meter, and autofocus on your D3000.
