Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6G AF Nikkor work with my D3000?

Right now all I have is the 18-55mm lens that came with the D3000 and I would like something that zooms in a bit more. I have looked at other lens that zoom in less but cost way more so I'm not sure why this lens is so much cheaper but I just don't know enough about photography to know if this lens will work or not.

Does your D3000 have the AF motor? If so, yes, it will. If not, it'll still work, but it won't autofocus.

It will fit, but you can't autofocus with the lens.

For autofocus, you can only use AF-S lenses

The 70-300 G is not a really good lens anyway. For the same money, you can get the Nikon 55-200 AF-s, or for another $50 you can get the stabilized version of the same lens. Both are AF-S, and will autofocus on your D3000. You will have better optics than the 70-300 G also. Now, if you can find the 70-300 ED, that's different!
