Does the Nikon 50mm f1.8G AF-S Nikkor lens work well with a Nikon D3000?

I was looking into buying it for my D3000, but I just wanted to know what people thought of it with the Nikon D3000.

This one will work perfectly, as it is an AF-S lens. If it were the older 50mm f/1.8D AF, then it would not autofocus.
It's a very good lens for portraits and low light situations. I use the older version of it on my D90 and it's one of my favourite lenses.

It will work as well as you know how to operate it.

It will work OK. Whether or not it will work well depends on you.

Well as with others, compatibility is something to be worked on. Luckily, the lens and the camera have you to mediate if ever they get into a quarrel.
It seems you already know what you're doing. You only need some verification to be sure you're doing the right thing. The D3000 will AF any AF-S or AF-I lens. Here's the proof from someone very knowledgeable.

Go ahead and buy that lens. You won't regret it.
