Will best buy replace my Nikon D3000?

I bought a Nikon D3000 from Best Buy within the past 6 months. When I first bought the camera they advised me to purchase the 3 year warranty with it to protect ANY accidental damages. They ALSO said if Nikon discontinued the D3000… They would have to replace it with a new model. I believe the D3100 is going to replace the D3000 on the market? Anyone who has worked for best buy know if this is as good to go as it seems?

If you bought the warranty they'll replace it. I believe Best Buy only has a 30-day exchange policy. If you didn't get the warranty, you should have a 1-year warranty with the manufacturer.

Replacement only is done only if the camera is found to have a factory defect within the first few days after purchase. You no longer qualify for that.

The problem is that the D3000 is NOT discontinued.

The D3100 while it is an entry level camera, it is one of just three Nikon makes, the D3000, D3100 and D5000, all current models

Make sure you read the extended warranty very carefully before you "accidentally" damage your camera to see if there are "accidents" not covered. Salespeople will say anything to sell the extended warranties.

Like fhotoace said, the 3000 is still in production and until the PMA2011 takes place it's hard to say if the 3000 will be phased out anytime soon.

Good luck on upgrading your camera after its accident.
