What is the difference between a Nikon D3000 and a Nikon D3100?
I'd like to know the difference please and which is better for photography.
The D3100 is the replacement for the D3000 and has the added feature of Full HD video (1080p)
The D3000 has a 10 MP CCD sensor, and the D3100 has a 14 MP CMOS sensor. I don't know how these particular models compare, but I have found that my D90 with 12 MP CMOS sensor seems to struggle more with color balance than my D60 with 10 MP CCD.
The D3100 processor corrects for chromatic aberration (color fringing). Some lenses have more of that than others. The Nikon 18-105mm VR is reputed to have more CA than the 18-55mm VR, but processors in the D90, D5000, D3100, D300, and D7000 correct for it. The D40, D60, and D3000 do not.
Much better night and indoor image quality, 14 mpx as opposed to 12mpx and video/liveview
