I'm looking for tethered photgraphy software for PC to use with my Nikon D3100 (preferably free). I'm also wondering what the best kind of cable for camera to computer. Any suggestions or help is appreciated.

If it's not in the CD, it might be in their website.

Nikon doesn't have as many tethering options as Canon (which I believe comes with tethering software on the CD). I don't think even programmes such as Adobe's Lightroom support that model.

What you can do is use an Eye-Fi SD card in your camera - acts like a normal memory card, but can also transmit images wirelessly to a laptop or PC - you do have to be in a Wi-Fi area though.

Or you can try this site;

they have written a small script for tethered shooting with various models (think it includes D3100) - I've used this site before & it's ok - no virus/spam - to download it for my D300, but now I have LR3 I don't need it.

You did not do your research before buying your camera. As you can see, only the D5000 and D5100 entry level camera's can be tethered.

Here is a list of the cameras that can be tethered to Lightroom 3.

• D3
• D3s
• D3x
• D90
• D200
• D300
• D300s
• D700
• D5000
• D7000

This list was compiled before the D5100 was introduced, so based upon its compatibility with Camera Control Pro 2, it might also work with Lightroom 3 - Check with Adobe
