Nikon D3200 Lens? Portraits/Sports/Nigh Shots?

First off, I'm very new… I don't know a lot about photography…

I just bought a Nikon D3200 with NIKKOR 18 - 55mm VR lens that came with it in it packaging.

i was wondering if anyone could recommend better lens'…

preferably a lens that work well for portraits, night shots and also sports (fast paced) photos… That's at $0 - $300 price range

please recommend a lens for each category, or if theirs a lens that works well for the 3 things I'm asking for, please give me a detailed description of it or a link… Thanks.

Where is the cheapest retailer I can get Nikon lenses?

I have a l smaller budget for buying lenses and i have been gawking at the nikon 18-300. Yes I know the 18-300 is very expensive but i figure from reviews i have heard that it is so great that they never even have to change lenses! I may be able to settle for a 55-200 or 55-300 but i still want to get a great deal on them. By the way, how what do you think of the 18-300 on a Nikon D3200?

First time sports photography this weekend. Speed boat Racing?

I'm new to sports photography. I familiar with all aspects of my camera that i'm aware of. I shoot only in Raw and on manual. Sometimes i use Shutter priority or aperture priority. I have taken moon shots, nature/animal photography, weddings ect.

A friend has hired me to go to The 3rd annual event for the us title series for boat racing. They understood this is my first time in sports photography so we made a deal. He pays for my hotel all weekend and price of meals and I learn something new. Works out for the best of us.

I'm using a Nikon D3000. For this event ill be using a TAMRON AF 70-300MM 1:4-5.6 Tele Macro (1:2) Lens. I know for boat racing i don't wanna use to much of a fast shutter speed because i want some blur for the water and to show motion. I can tweak that as i'm taking pictures. Its going to be a Bight sunny day according to Florida's weather channel ( lol ). I was wondering if anyone can help me with a General idea of a few things

1- A Base Shutter Speed ( i can adjust it as i'm taking pictures to go for the look i'm looking for)
2- Iso ( should i use 100 or a higher iso for the shutter speed i want)
3- F-Stop
4- Focus mode i'm going to use a Continues unless someone else has a suggestion
5- Focus Area Mode - (should i use centered since most of my pictures are gonna be of boats in the center of my screen?)
6- Metering - Not sure about this. Should i use the whole screen? Pin point or centered

Does DSLR quality drop the higher the shutter count?

My Nikon D3100 shutter count is currently at 30,000. Photo quality isn't as great as I remember, but that might just be because I started using a Canon t3I more often and have let my Nikon sit doing nothing for about a year. Not sure if quality has actually dropped or if it's my imagination.

Does shutter count affect quality?

What should I do with my old DSLR?

I have a Nikon D3100 that I used to shoot with A LOT I loved it, I have 3 lenses for it, the kit lens, a 55 - 200 and also a 35mm 1.8.

I slowly stopped doing photography as much and now mainly do videography with my Canon t3I which I also own a few lenses for.

Basically my point is, I like videography, so I likely won't ever go back to Nikon. What should I do with my nikon gear?

I was thinking maybe by a lens adapter so I can use my Nikon Lenses on the Canon body?

What should I do with the Nikon body itself? Seems like a waste to have it sit around doing nothing.

How to transfer photos from laptop to sd card?

I tried copy-and-pasting photo from my laptop to the sd card I use for my nikon d3100. I successfully copied the photo to DCIM --> 1000DCIM folders but then when I use my camera, the photo that I just transferred won't show up. Can transferring photos from laptop/pc to sd card be possible?

Nikon D5100 with Nikkor 55-200mm lens? - 1

I'm wondering if I should purchase the Nikkor 55-200mm lens for my Nikon D5100. I love taking photos of my sons outside while he's playing & I take my families family photos. I really want the pictures to turn out very clear with the background very blurry. I love that look! Is this a good lens for that?
