Is it fine for a newbie to use semi prof DSLR?
Confused whether to buy a beginner model, or semi prof right away.(Canon 650D, Nikon D5100, or Nikon D7000)

DSLR Photographers- advice please
I'm purchasing my first DLSR, the nikon d5100. This is for photography, not casual "oh, lets take some pictures of the kids" stuff. I was wondering which would be of better value: to purchase it with the kit lens, or buy it as a body only and get a better lens, such as the 55-300mm. My friend owns this and uses it as her main lens. She said it was around $200 (so cost isn't the issue). The question really is, which lens is the best for general use? Thanks!
Added (1). CORRECTION: meant 55-200mm

I have a nikon d5100. Recently, it has not taken any memory cards. I have been using a sony disk for about 1.5 years, and when I bought a new one, and loaded it. I Keep getting an error screen reading "Memory card may be damaed do not use"
Now, every memory card being put in, from a 4gb up to a 32 gb, sony and pny brands, all get this error screen. I have hit the format button on the camera, and nothing is working.
Called Wolf Camera and they said they have not heard of this issue and could not help.
Any suggestions!
Need my camera, in working condition in 4 days for an event.

I'm planning on buying Nikon D7000. I'm a bokeh-holic, particularly the hollywood types,
Reference pictures:
Anyways, I'm looking at Nikkor AF-S 50mm f1.8G/f1.4G
My main use will be for Cosplay-photography, so not looking at longer focal lengths which I've seen a few websites recommending for good bokeh. I'm also planning to do some low light shots as well…
My point is, which lens would be more suitable for what I'm doing - both bokeh as well as overall shooting. I know the main difference is the aperture, so it's obvious to go for the f1.4, but a lot of the reviews have said that the f1.8 is better financially and photographically/not much difference at all in comparison to f1.4. Which would be worth the money?
It will be my first DSLR + Lens purchase and many of my friends are canon users, so excuse any misunderstanding I have made. Feel free to suggest anything else that may be helpful.
If you have pictures taken with D7000 and either lenses, for bokeh, please link!

Need to buy a DSLR camera. So far liked Nikon D7000. Is my choice ok?
I'm wanting to purchase a DSLR camera. Will it be safe to buy online? If yes, which is the most reliable and economical place to buy on web? If there are choices other than Nikon, please do let me know. I'm based in India.

Amateur photography learning the ropes?
I'm trying to teach myself how to take full advantage if my nikon d3000 via the Internet. It's all very overwhelming, but I think the best way for me to get a grasp of aperture, shutter speed, and iso is to know approximately where these setting should be at in different scenarios and then make adjustments from there. For example lets say I'm taking photos of my daughter outside on an overcast day or in the shade with a blurry background. Where would be a good starting point? And how about the same situation indoors near a window? Or outside on a sunny day? If you have any other helpful tips for me I would really appreciate it.

I'm buying a new flash setup for a photography trip in the French Alps. I have a Nikon D5000 (max sync speed 1/200s).
I have two different setups:
1:
Yongnuo YN460ii x3
RF-602 x3
2:
Godox EX400 x1
Yongnuo YN460ii x1
I was wondering which setup would be best for freezing fast action, skiing and snowboarding. Also it would be used for portraits.
Which setup do you think would be best for my needs?

Nikon D5100 versus, which cameras out in the WORLD there take better image quality photos?
I know, i know, its not the camera, but the guy behind the camera who's taking photos, yes i know…
lets say the guy who's taking photos is a PRO… And he has a d5100, now can you please tell me, out of all the DSLR cameras out there, which or how many of them will beat the D5100 in better image quality alone? Please tell me the brand and model of them, i don't care if they cost 5, 000$
thanks.

Opteka baby fisheye with nikon d5100?
I have recently bought myself a Nikon D5100, which came with an 18-55mm lens. I have also bought myself an Opteka baby death fisheye lens, the lens is a 37mm so I also bought a step down ring (55-37). Once i'd set up the fisheye onto the standard lens, I have tried and failed to get the camera to focus. Someone please help? Best answer will be awarded!

Canon Rebel t3i/EOS 600D help? Filming?
I've just bought a new camera ^ as you see. And I've only owned Nikons before, no Canons but I was wondering, since I make youtube videos, and I understood that this camera should have a thing that makes the camera focus on its own, or a motor you know in it (that for example the Nikon D5100 doesn't have) so how do I get it to focus on its on? This is really important for me to know. Like when I'm filming avideo so it focuses on me and then for example if I lift my finger up it would focus on that.
