Night photography w/Nikon D5100 18-55mm?
Last night I took my first photo of the night sky just outside my house. I'm a beginner, so please be kind.
To be honest, it didn't turn out as expected. I expected for the stars to be more visable and the sky to be brighter if that makes sense. I would like to know if anyone could offer any tips/suggestions for improvement on the photo below (see direct link).
Could someone also please explain to me what the two single thin lines in the sky represent in the photo? Are they stars or? What causes this to happen?
Any help would be appreciated!

Glass replacement for Nikon D60?
Not the lcd display screen but rather the glass piece that covers it. It's not the same as the glass screen protector is it? (isn't that the clear tape that goes over it?) i have a crack on the bottom half of the glass so i'd really like to replace it.links please to websites (amazon or ebay) that sell this glass piece?

How to shoot without red-eye effect?

Can you use a Nikon flash sync cord with a Vivitar flash?
I have a Nikon D7000 and just got a Vivitar external flash for it. Can I use a Nikon flash sync cord or do I have to get a Vivitar one? What about the remote transmitter… Would that be Nikon or Vivitar?

I have 2 shots of mine that I want critiqued. Give me feedback on anything that I need to improve on. (These two pictures are completely unrelated. The first link is a sports photograph of a runner, and the second a photo for a "light and shadow" photography class assignment). Both were taken with a Nikon d3200, 18-55mm kit lens.

Beginner digital SLR, which one?
I'm going to Canada for a whole year in 2013 to visit my family and go to school there. As everybody knows, most parts of Canada are very scenic and have amazingly beautiful nature. I'm going to be outside in nature a lot, and I'd love to take nice quality photos. That's why I'm getting myself a digital SLR, I just don't know which one. I'm going to take (mainly) landscape photos. Mountains, forests, lakes, beaches and so on. Maybe the occasional flower. I was thinking about getting the Nikon D3200, but it's a little expensive.
I wanna get something that won't be outdated within the next 6 months, but not anything that is super expensive either.
As for the price, I'm willing to spend up to around:
700-750$ (536€ or 435£)

Why does my camera go blurry in video mode?
My Nikon D3100 goes blurry in video mode when i zoom in, anyone know why? I'm gonna film my school show, what's the best options? It will be at night but there's a spotlight
my Lens are 18-55mm

I'm planning to buy my first SLR camera. I'm pretty much confused between Nikon D3100, Canon EOS 1100D and Sony Alpha A37K SLR.
Which one should I Choose.

Am I the only one unhappy with Nikon service?
This is a copy of my 11/16/12 complaint to BBB. BBB posted it 11/20/12.So far there's no response from Nikon. Has anyone ever had similar problem with Nikon?
Nature of Complaint: Guarantee Or Warranty Issues - A dispute regarding the warranty coverage and/or terms
Problem:
I purchased a Nikkor 16-85mm f3.5-5.6 AF-S DX VR lens from BH Photo, arrival date April 13, 2011. Serial number US26015999. I promptly filled in the Nikon Extended Coverage card and mailed it to Nikon. That extends the Nikon warranty from the standard 1 year to 5 years. I mainly use this lens with my Nikon D90 body. The lens worked mostly beautifully at first. In the last year it seems like it has been having increasing autofocus errors, especially at the shorter focal lengths. Blame the body, my technique, or the lens? It seems like the body rarely has autofocus error with other lenses. Trying the lens on an older D60 body, I think I got fewer errors than with the D90, but still more than I should with this lens. When it is wrong it seems to focus as if my subject were closer than it is. I place my autofocus sensor carefully to make user error unlikely. Looking at user reviews by others, most are happy with this lens. A minority of reviewers report autofocus error problems that seem similar to mine. One reviewer said that Nikon service found the autofocus module to be defective. In September 2012 I sent the lens to Nikon's service facility in El Segundo, California, service order 5978634.It was covered by the extended warranty. Their result was to report it to have been tested and showing no problem. My experiments with the lens is that it still has a problem with autofocus.
Desired Outcome
Desired Settlement: Repair
Desired Outcome:
I would like to send in the lens for warranty service again, but I need it to be more seriously tested and actually fixed.
