Best lens for self portrait? (nikon d5100)?

I already own a 50mm 1.8G. I was planning to buy a 18-55mm VR or a 35mm 1.8 because the 50mm is ''TOO CLOSE'' for self portraits. Which one should I buy?

Which wide zoom lens would be best for my needs?

I specialize in family, children, senior and engagement photos. I'm currently shooting with a nikon d3000. I already have a 50 mm f1.8 lens, but was looking into getting a wide zoom lens to make my family sessions more manageable. I'm just not what would be best. I'm a natural light photographer… If that makes a difference.

Nikon D5100 Lens, some direction would be nice

I'm planning on purchasing my first DSLR (D5100), but I'm on the fence about which lenses to get. I'm extremely interested in night photography, so I thought Nikon's AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G lens would be a nice pickup (not exactly sure if it is but I'm keen to listen to your opinions. So my question is do I need really need the 18-55mm kit lens or will the 35mm lens work just fine for me. I know that the lens can't do much zooming but I figured I'll buy the lens if I need it later on. And one more question, how is the 35mm lens in landscapes?
What should I do?

Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX lens is it good?

Is the 35mm f/1.8 a good lens as my first secondary lens for my entry level D3100? I travel and mostly take pictures outdoors, scenarios, animals, nature, buildings and outdoors, if that helps.

Does the Nikon D5100 do HDR video?

I'm getting a Nikon D5100 for Christmas and I was wondering if the in-camera HDR (high dynamic range) feature can be used while shooting video clips with this camera. I want to hear from anyone with experience with this specific camera and if they tried it. I thought it wouldn't work unless you had two DSLRs, but the new Magiclantern firmware for Canons have the HDR feature for video and thought maybe it could work similar to that.

I want a camera but I don't know which one to get?

For taking pictures w/ friends, outfits, of food, & just stuff. Like the ones on tumblr. I like to blog them and I don't know what is best, I've been eyeing on samsung nx1000 camera, and nikon d90 ( I don't know which lens to get ). I have no idea what camera is best for me. I have had digital cameras, & I've used a dslr I've borrowed from a friend, the photos are better than digital cameras.that's why I want to get a camera other than digital. Please SUGGEST me cameras.

Added (1). I also like SONY NEX-5 (16mm + 18-55mm) 16.1 mp, CANON REBEL T2i or T3i, the samsung nx1000 has 20-50mm and 20.3 megapixels, and because @clam chowder told me dslr and is very expensive then I won't get a d90 anymore. But I still consider rebel, but I won't be buying other lenses for it.

What lens shall I buy for my Nikon D3100?

I have Nikon D3100 and I currently use the 18-55mm lens that came with the camera when I first got it.
I like to take many different photographs. I take a lot of long exposure shots at night time, I like to capture fog and snow, i like bokeh pictures and nature shots. I do take pictures of people but not a great amount.
I would also love to be able to capture the moon and stars better if possible.
I also find with the current lens i have (18-55mm) when I take a picture of someone, the background isn't blurred enough.
I take my pictures in natural light 90% of the time.
These are the photographers I'm inspired by and would love my pictures to look more like

What lens shall I buy for my Nikon D3100

I'd appreciate it if someone could give me a list of lenses that are compatible with my camera and give me a reason for each lens and what it's specifically good for.
I hope this makes sense and is enough information
