Light, sturdy tripod for Nikon?

Hiya, I'm not yet a professional photographer but am hoping to provide quality images to go with my travel writing. I own a Nikon D3100, some other basic equipment like a polarizer and and filter. I have a sturdy tripod that is very heavy as I found out last weekend climbing Snowdon with it! I was wondering what are the best, lightest but still sturdy tripods out there for shooting landscapes?

Nikon D7100 focusing issue?

I recently upgraded from a D3100 to a D7100; however, I'm finding the D3100 better and am very very disappointed with my D7100.

Here's the problem. I'm an automotive photographer and the D7100 rarely focuses on what I want it to. When shooting cars the car is out of focus or focuses on the people inside. It's extremely annoying.

I shoot AF-C with a 50mm 1.8 / 35mm 1.8 - the camera is new and so are the lenses so it is in perfect condition.

Could someone please advise - thanks

What's wrong with my DSLR? Extreme shutter lag at all times even with manual focus?

For the last few months every time I press the shutter button it takes 5-10 seconds for the camera to take the photo even on manual mode and manual focus. I have a Nikon D3100, 6 years old, there was a period of 6th months where I didn't use it and it just sat in my room… What that be the problem?

Nikon 35mm vs 50mm lens

I have a Nikon D7000. I'm looking to buy a Nikon 35mm f/1.8G ED lens, maybe the 1.4G, however, since my camera is not full frame, it'll end up being more of a 50mm. What lens can I buy that will properly convey the 35mm look on my camera?

Want an honest, unbiased lead and advice on what camera and computer to buy?

I've been want to pick up on photography and videography so I ll be amateur to the fullest. Not sure where to start when it comes to cameras because I hear all types of things and don't want to be mislead and buy into something marketing scheme. Also looking for a computer for in depth editing that can glorify and magnify the photos/videos I want to capture. Also, don't want to spend an arm and a leg (picky picky, I know) but was hoping for some advice. Was look at a Nikon D7000 for camera choice and a MacBook Pro.

Prom Photoshoot tips?

I have never been paid to take portraits before, and a friend asked me to take their pictures for prom tomorrow! But I have no idea what to do because I don't have any experience… Any tips?

I also need to know what poses are best, like classic ones that are a definite must.

Also, what setting is best for a camera during portraits like that(manual, automatic, etc… I have a Nikon D50)?

ANyways, any tips are appreciated! I don't know ANYTHING

Added (1). Thanks for the tips guys. And about not having any experience, here's the deal: I do have experience with Manual, I'm very familiar with a camera, but what I mean by having no experience is just having people in shots… I usually only take scenery. So I was being a little dramatic by saying I don't know anything… So I guess what I'm really asking is what are some equipment that are recommended for portraits? And what are some fun poses?

Added (2). And their expectations aren't too high, and the pay is low. They just don't have access to a nicer camera, so they don't expect them to be perfect, just to look nicer than their mom's phone camera

Where is the light sensor located in DSLR Cameras?

The reason why I ask, is because I'm buying a entry level DSLR for beginners. I'm new to ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed. I'm buying a Nikon D3200 which I already put on lay-a-way. I know that the Nikon D3200 works great for taking pictures in daylight or really well lit rooms. But I'm wanting to take night shots as well. I honestly don't know where the light sensor is located in DSLR's, I've been told that the light sensor is in the lens. I wanted to know if I could just buy a better lens for taking photos at night or just in darker situations, or is the sensor in fact inside the camera itself? Because I don't want any Noise/Grain in the picture.

Does a dSLR focusing system fail over time as it is being used for events photography?

So I got my D7000 in January of 2013, and today Sept 2015, I have over 200,000 actuations. I was reviewing my archives from my shoots back in 2013, using my Nikon 50mm f/1.4G, I noticed that my photos were sharper and were more on point in focus to the subject's eyes back in 2013 compared to the photos I take today. The focusing I now have is slower even in low light, ( as in streetlight low light ) and i'm not getting any more good focus locks compared to before.

Just wanted to know if this can be repaired?
