Aperture Nikon d3200 Error?

I bought a Nikon Nikkor AF 35-135mm F/3.5-4.5 AF Lens some weeks ago, but i haven't tried it until now because i have one just like it, but when i turn on the camera + the newest lens it says "Lock lens aperture ring at minimum aperture (largest F-number)" even tho i have locked it in the largest F-number! And it works perfectly with the other identical lens i have!

Camera Body: Nikon D3200 (2012mod)

is my lens ruined? Can it be fixed? Can it be overridden?

I think this might be the problem. On older lenses like the one you mention, there are two dots near the aperture scale. One orange and one white. They're a kind of switch, and if the switch is in the wrong position you will get the error message.

I'm not a hundred per cent on this, but I recall a similar thing happening with my Nikon and a slightly older lens.

On the back of your lens there should be a little switch. Make sure that isn't jammed.

You need to use Nikkor AF-S lenses on your Nikon D3200. This is mentioned in your user manual, so before you spend another dime, make sure you are spending your money wisely.

There's NOTHING wrong with the lens or your camera, just you choice of lenses
