Opinions on the Nikon D3100?

What do you think of it? I want to get one for myself. Do you think it would be the right camera for a 16 year old? I have so many questions… Is it worth purchasing or is there another better one? I like the price range, it's within budget.

The Nikon D3100 is a great camera. As long as you know how to use it, you'll have no regrets buying it over other cameras in its price range.

Yes, there's a better option, but if it isn't in the budget then the D3100 is nothing to sneeze at.
The D5100 is quite an improvement from the D3100. Compare: http://snapsort.com/...ikon_D3100

I just looked at one at Target. It's a nice entry level camera. It's good for anyone of any age getting into digital photography. I'd love to have one myself.

The D3100 is one of the very first DSLRS to have auto-focus continuously in video mode and the AF-F works quite well and it got some neat feature like face detection all though it lill bit slower times to focus, also the auto focus sound of the lens can be pick in the audio track and you can't plug in and external mic. Well feel that the video mode of this camera is little mediocre but then its targeted to beginners and entry level people as what beginners will mess about the external mics and manual focusing and video mode anyway this is meant for the consumer who wants get in to the DSLR photography the AF-F is good enough for a beginner to learn basics of shooting video with a DSLR.
