Nikon D80 Stopped working? Any ideas why?

When I was taking a photograph I say the low battery simple, so I charged my battery and put it back in the camera and it didn't turn on. I want to a store to buy a new battery, charged it and my camera still didn't turn on. I don't remember my camera getting wet or falling. I haven't taken it to the shop yet because I didn't want to be cheated out of my money because it might be something I can fix. I'm guessing that my charger might not be working but it does light up, so I'm out of ideas! Please help me out

I got it used in 2008 and I don't remember how long the person have it.

Well since there are NO user repairable cameras, you may have to take it in for someone to look at it for damage.
Have you tried using the two-button reset? That is listed in your user manual

It's possible (even likely) that if the battery went to 0V whilst the camera was turned on the system is out of sync, stuck between functions, Aces suggestion of the re-set will cure it if that is the reason.
