Nikon D5000 SLR or Canon Rebel EOS Ti1? - 1
I'm shopping for a new SLR camera.i'm stuck between the Nikon D5000 SLR and the Canon Rebel EOS Ti1. >.<
someone who owns one/both, which camera do you prefer and why?
pros, cons about either?
things i should know about either?
these can both shoot video right? I'm pretty sure but i want to make sure because i do film and photography.
thank you so much!
answers are greatly appreciated! :]
I own a Nikon D60 I prefer Nikon for glamor, most do as well and cannon for Hi-Speed Action Shots.
I would stay away from using a DSLR for video, Get a video camera for that.
Its all in what the camera does for you, Both brands are the tops when it comes to DSLR's
Get the nikon i just like the way i take pictures with that one so much better it gives you so many choices and its easy… Anyone can use it both are actually easy bt its hard to explain… My best pics come out of the nikon thats all i can say.
You need to up the ante some
The two cameras you need to be comparing is the Nikon D3100 and Canon 550D (T2i)
Both cameras shoot in Full HD (1080p) video and the Nikon can auto-focus in the video mode as well
I doubt that you will find someone who owns both Nikon and Canon systems. Owning any dSLR system is costly enough without duplicating everything, especially lenses.
I own Nikon's and from time to time shoot using Canon's owned by clients who what to hire me, but don't want me to own the copyrights to all the photos I shoot. Using their cameras changes that issue.
At present, the Nikon D3100 in your price range provides the most bang for the buck.
Take a look on the Nikon and Canon websites for full disclosure
I would actually suggest you look at the D3100 instead of the D5000
the D3100 is basically the D5000's replacement and is only about $50 more expensive, but that buys you autofocus while shooting video, which you might want since you said you want to shoot video.
but yes, both those cameras fit what you want, the D3100 is just better at doing it.
I would suggest to have a look at Nikon D3100 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera
* 14.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS image sensor;
* 3-inch monitor with One-Touch Live View shooting and movie capture
* Full 1080p HD Cinematic Video with full-time autofocus and sound
* Easy-To-Use Nikon Guide Mode with intuitive controls and on-board assistance

Listen to Fhoto Ace - he is THE expert here.
Fhoto Ace - have you noticed that this is the 3rd time I've spelled your moniker correctly? I finally started paying attention!
No one (99%) owns two beginner models. That would be a waste of money. Perhaps someone who tried both would be better.
Pros and cons.Eh, quality is the same, T1i has a little bit more noise after ISO 1600. Both can shoot video in HD at 24fps (The t1i at Full HD but at 20fps which is useless)
Here's a post called 'Buying a DSLR, what's important, megapixels, features, brand, price, quality and which one to buy (Amazon links) - http://www.the-dslr-photographer.com/2009/03/which-dslr-to-buy.html
