My Nikon D5100 won't turn on?

I've had my Nikon D5100 camera for a couple of months and it's always worked perfectly but I'm leaving on holiday tomorrow so I charged the battery, and the charger showed that its fully charged however when I insert the battery and turn the camera on the only thing that happens is a small green light that flashes on the body and THAT'S IT. It won't turn on, I've tried taking out the lens and everything but it just won't turn on.

Please reply, I need this camera for tomorrow. Thanks

Added (1). My battery is fully charged, inserted in the right way and the battery compartment is closed. :/

Added (2). The memory card is also in, right side up. I'm clueless.

Make sure the battery is inserted with the proper orientation.

make sure the battery compartment door is closed completely.

never had this particular problem with my 5100.

Also make sure a memory card is in.

Check to see if the charger is giving you a false "fully charged" indication. Charge if a few more hours. Then clean the contacts on the battery with a soft cloth or a clean pencil eraser. The other thought would be to take it to a local camera shop and have them try a different battery in it and your batter in a different Nikon camera.

A few years ago, the D70 DSLRs had a problem where if you turned them on, some of them would fail and the memory card activity light would flash a couple of times and that is it.

There was a service bulletin on the D70, and Nikon fixed them for free. I checked the Nikon website service bulletins and it seems some D5000s have a similar issue, but I do not see anything on the D5100. But perhaps it is a similar problem.

It is probably time to call Nikon.

Either the battery or the charger is broken.
