You can use it but it won't auto-focus. For that, you need an AF-S lens like the (more expensive) 50mm f/1.4G.
Or - probably for the same ballpark price difference - you could upgrade the D60 to a used D80. The D80 has a built-in AF motor which can focus AF-D lenses just fine.
