Any good used Nikkor AF-S or AF-I lens.

If you don't mind manually focusing your shots using the electronic rangefinder in the viewfinder, you can use the older Nikkor AF lenses

Your lowest cost option would be the very good Nikon 18-55VR that came with the camera. Many are available used (Craigslist) because they are standard on Nikon's D3000, D3100, D5000 and D5100 and many owners of these cameras wish to trade up. You should be able to find one in new condition for around $75. If you want a better "walk around" lens look for a used Nikon 18-105 VR. For around $225. This lens is a bit better optically plus has the added reach of 105mm. Both are DX crop sensor lenses and are equiped with Nikon's silent wave motor.

The cheapest lenses will be used 3rd party lenses from the basic end of the range from Sigma or Tamron. You will get a used short-medium telephoto (ie 70-300) range zoom for under $120; a used 28-70 or so range for under $100.

The risk is buying used you won't know their history and the image quality of the cheap end of the range Sigma and Tamron lenses is variable between poor and moderate. People still use them though!

The 50mm 1.8 and 35mm 1.8 are really compared to others. And the quality you get with them is amazing, when you look at the price. And it also comes with AF-S so you can auto focus with your D60
