I have been using nikon d40 for about 4 years now i think it's about time to upgrade; i'm worry about buying and a new one comes out, i don't know what to do.

Why do you need to upgrade?

are you spending money for the sake of it?

It is. But you may have to wait in line. This is one of the most popular semi-professional dSLR at this time and with the earthquake, tsunami and later floods in Asia, they are in short supply.

Here is how the sensor of the Nikon D7000 compares to its closest Canon competitor, the 60D

Lots of photographers look forward to a new model coming out so that they can get a good deal on the one just discontinued. The advantages of newer models over older ones are becoming smaller and smaller, and less influential on image quality. Unless you're a gear head, you'll be happy with the older model. It will certainly be an improvement over your D40.

Not to me, because I have a D200.
