Is my Nikon D3000 broke?
My Nikon won't turn(even with a new charged battery) and when I looked in the viewfinder eyepiece it was grainy and it was dimmer than usual. Is my nikon broke? I would like to know because I'm taking a photography class for school and I would need my nikon. Please and thank you.
Added (1). I tried to turn it on with the lens but it still didn't work and it won't on:/
Take it to your dealer, or an authorised Nikon technician (often the same if you bought it from a real camera shop) and explain the problem.
If the viewfinder is grainy and dim, your lens may not be screwed on the whole way. This will also prevent the camera from turning on, or at least cause it to display an error message.
The viewfinder goes gray when there's no battery in the camera or when the battery is not making proper contact.
Call/Email/Telegram whatever Nikon.
I think Taylor is on the right track. What you are seeing sounds like what to expect when the battery is absent, not just low. It might be the battery failing to hold any charge at all, or it may be a faulty connection in the camera.
