How to know if this camera is not fake on eBay?

I want to buy a Nikon D3200 on eBay. I messaged the seller since his item was on tuition to see if he had any more and he said he did and I can buy it. He said that we can do it by PayPal, outside of eBay. I said can you make it an eBay listing and he said after this listing is done since eBay lets him only put one listing time by time.

I'm looking through and the camera says Country / Region of Manufacture: United States. (Aren't nikons made in Thailand or he did not know and guessed US?)

Second, it says that the camera has manufacture warranty. So, is that a safe bet? Or can people just stick some serial code or something?

From 414 transactions, he has 98.8% positive feedback. He has been rated negative once from the person saying do not buy from this person but maybe that guy was easily ticked off.

What do you think?

Why don't you just buy the camera from a reputable camera shop like B&H Photo?

If you are looking for a lower price, you are going to find products that are either grey market or you will be buying from a bait and switch company. Neither are what you want.

If you prefer, you may be able to find refurbished cameras on the Nikon website. They are as good as new and have a US manufacturers warranty, but cost somewhat less.

If you look on the Nikon website, you will see that the Nikon D3200 is on sale for under $480

I would forget eBay.

Always buy a camera from a camera dealer, and at least a 90 day warranty.
There are good deals on refurbished cameras.
I think Cameta Camera sells on ebay. They are a good store to buy from.
FYI, offering to sell outside of ebay is a violation of their TOS.

Don't buy a DSLR on eBay - ever.

Yes Nikon cameras are made in Thailand. However, here the funny part, they are made here than shipped to Japan and then Japan will ship to Thailand and Thailand will charge an import tax and you also pay a 7%VAT fee. I'm sure distribution of Nikon camera are made from Japan.

But like everyone else say don't do it unless you can accept the lost.
