How long do DSLR shutters last?
I have a nikon d40 and heard the shutter goes out after 50, 000 images?
is that true?
is the shutter replaceable or will i have to buy whole new camera?
just wondering because i know i have taken at least 15, 000 over the past year… ( i do lots of time lapse stuff too)
I know one lady who has a D40x for the past 3 yrs and has shot over 100, 000 shots…
Nikon Claims an avg 100, 000 Canon claims an avg 50, 000…
After that you can get the thing repaired for a bare minimum price.
Check this out I ask this before.
I have an older Nikon D100 with over 220, 000 shutter cycles on it.
I have a colleague who owns a Nikon D3 which has over one million shutter cycles on it.
Both cameras work just fine
Where did you get the 50, 000 figure? It is pretty bogus
Different DSLRs are rated at different actuations. Most can handle between 100-150K before they start wearing out. This is a gradual process and you'll notice it as your photos slowly become overexposed as the shutter slows down. The shutter can be replaced, at least in the Canon line, for a few hundred dollars.
