Does just the body of the SLR take pictures?

So i want to buy an SLR camera on Ebay. I don't have So much money to spend. But i found a Nikon D70 for like 100 bucks. I was all excited and ready to buy it but then i realized it said "Nikon D70 body".so i was like oh so i need to buy a lense. But even if its just the "body" could it still take pictures? I'm so confused.

You need a lens to focus the light on the cameras sensor.
Too bad you didn't do your research before you got excited and spent your money.
Look on craigslist for a good used standard zoom lens or 50 mm primary lens

You need to get a lens. A 50mm f/1.8 is pretty inexpensive as far as lenses go, and it's a good one to start with; I suggest either one of those or a small zoom lens (18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 for instance).

Yeah, you can take pictures but they will come out blurry. Like the guy said above me, you need a lens to focus the light.

Look on ebay for the old nikon 28-80 lens. Dirt cheap and not all that bad.

Indeed you need body and lens as a complete system. I would advise against a fixed 50mm unless you only want to take portraits - it's a comparatively narrow angle of view. For versatility look at a 18 to 55mm or similar, If you really don't know much about buying a camera, perhaps go to a camera shop and get advice - the camera might be a little more expensive but at least you will exit the shop knowng that you have an outfit that works, because you will have seen it working in the shop.
