What does it mean when it just says slr camera body?
I'm looking to but a slr camera. I'm looking on second hand websites and there saying (body only) next to the make and model of the camera.i. E Nikon D40 (Body Only). Can someone tell me what this means? I know you can buy extra lenses for these cameras but I thought you only brought them if you wanted better quality pictures i.e closeups etc.
Sometimes people only buy the body of the camera because they already have lenses they can use, or they want to get a separate lens. I. E. Get the D3000 body only, but then buy the nikkor 18-200mm lens.
In short, when it says "body only" it does not come with a lens, and you will have to buy the lens separately.
Body only means just that, no lens, no box, no instructions, and usually no warranty. Just for your information, the Nikon D 40 camera is a digital single lens reflex camera or DSLR.
A "SLR" camera is a camera that uses film and is NOT digital.
Body only is just the camera. No lens. You will have to buy a lens separately for the camera to take pictures.
