Can the Nikon d5000 pause while filming?

I want to get one, and I'm just curious if it can pause while filming.

There's NO reason to pause. Pausing would just burn battery power.

Just shut off the camera, recompose your shot and start shooting again.

It will be helpful to write a script and then break that script into a shooting script so you don't have to revisit the same scene over and over again which happens when people try to shoot video sequentially.

Have you looked at the new Nikon D3100. More video features than the D5000 and for less money

First "filming" will be very difficult with this camera since it doesn't do "film", it records video. Film is still in Hollywood.

No digital camera pauses during recording, there's only start and stop. I'd go into the reasons but it's a long explanation that you can research on your own.
