Can I pause during recording a video on the nikon l820?

Can I pause during recording a video?

Well, not really pause. When you stop a recording, it finishes the file. When you restart the recording, it creates a new file. You have to assemble the files in post-editing.
In a true pause condition, the recording would be interrupted without closing or creating a new file. That does not exist.
One camera company was looking into creating a true pause function in their cameras- wherein new files were not made, but I'm not sure if that idea ever came to market.

Video does not pause while recording, it doesn't work that way. When you stop that clip is recorded to the card. When you roll again you're running a new clip.
Then it's up to you to use a video editor to put all your material together in post production.
