Camera buy suggestions?

I'm looking to buy a camera but am very uneducated about cameras and photography. I like the photos that have a light tint and look hipster, and also like when the cameras have a good focus. I was looking at Nikons and Canons, specifically the Nikon d40x. Should maybe I also purchase specific lense? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Nikon d40x is high end camera, you would require camera and lens in combination. Here you can get the combo at the cheapest rate
Nikon D40X 10.2 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Two Lens Kit, with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX & 55mm - 200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX VR (Vibration Reduction)

Nikon D40X 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only)
http://www.amazon.com/...B000O19JF2
If you are looking for mid range cameras you can lok into these also
Nikon D3100 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens
http://www.amazon.com/...B003ZYF3LO
Nikon COOLPIX L120 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 21x NIKKOR Wide-Angle Optical Zoom Lens and 3-Inch LCD (Black)
http://www.amazon.com/...B004M8SVGQ
Canon EOS Rebel T3 12.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR with 18-55mm IS II Lens and EOS HD Movie Mode (Black)

Tints and other cool effects are usually added with software such as Lightroom (Which is $85 but you can find for free shhh) As you are a beginner, the Nikon d3100 is mire than what you need and comes with an all purpose 18-55 VR lens. If this is over you budget, there's also the Canon Rebel XS that cones with an 18-55 IS lens. If you get a body only (without a lens) you might just save money. As you love great focus, the 50mm f/1.8 is amazing. Cabin and Nikon both produce it for around $100.To save money, Canons your best option. Remember the 50mm has no zoom. YouTube reviews will help if you are curious before spending your money. Hope this helped, Happy New year.

Nikon d40x is a really old camera and i suggest you buying the nikon d7000 with the 18-105 lens

The 6 Megapixel Nikon D40 is targeted for those who want a relatively compact and light camera yet having most of the important SLR features. The D40 is priced reasonably (cheaper than D50/D80 and Canon Rebel XTi).In my opinion, if you are still considering whether to get a point and shoot camera or a DSLR, the D40 will be a better choice than any point and shoot camera, by far, even those with 8MP or 10MP. But if you are already deciding to get a DSLR or you want more control of the picture taking experience, then I would recommend you to also test the D50 and/or D80 first before deciding to buy the D40.
