I need a DSLR for mostly video purposes. Just want opinions on which you prefer, pros, cons, etc. Thank you.

Added (1). I do have an HD Sony Camcorder that shoots 1080p but I'm going to school in the fall for Film and Media and all of the cameras they have recommended are DSLRs, I haven't any idea why.

For video recording, you should buy an actual camcorder/video camera. DSLR = meant for shooting stills, Camcorder = meant for video recording. Despite popular belief, DSLRs are not good for video.

I prefer Nikon

for video however, get an actual video camera. Canon, Panasonic, and Sony are the three brands I would go with for video cameras.

do not get a DSLR for video

Get a Flip. Small, inexpensive, HD recording, and works the same, if not better, as a DSLR. Best of both worlds.

If you're only gonna be shooting videos, a DSLR might not be the right choice. DSLRs are not really made for video thus most decent HD camcorders produce better and more natural looking videos.

However, if you definitely wanna go with a DSLR for your videos, I'd recommend a Canon, since they've always had a slight edge when it comes to video quality. The Canon t2i (or 550D) makes very good videos and it's not very expensive. It's video can be compared to the 5D Mark II and there's almost no difference, as you can see in this comparison:
