Canon t2i body and lenses?
I was looking to purchase a canon t2i, and i find alot of things that say: canon t2i (body only)
will it still take pictures and video with body only, or do i need to buy lenses? If so, what kind and where? Currently using the Nikon p100, but i wanna step it up
You can't take pictures or record video without a lens. You can either get the t2i kit which usually comes with an 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens or you could save that extra money from buying the body only and get a better lens like the 50mm f/1.8. Although, these two lenses are very different. The 18-55mm is a good lens if your going to do snapshots here and there because the focal length covers a reasonable area. If you plan on doing more than just pointing and shooting the 50mm f/1.8 will give you more unique photos and videos.
You are in a whole new world.
You have to have a lens to use a dSLR.
Why are you moving from Nikon to Canon? Most of my colleagues are going from Canon to Nikon, mainly due to the low noise at high ISO settings.
Here is a sample from an old Nikon D3 at 12, 800 ISO. Try this on a Canon T2i/550D
Here is how the Canon T2i and Nikon D5100. As you can see, the Nikon out performs the Canon's sensor, especially at high ISO's

My guess is that you are buying a Canon because your friends have them and you have not really done much research.
Remember, once you pick a camera system, you will be married to it for decades, so take your time and really look into the features each system has, NOT just in the camera you will be buying now, but in the future too.
Spend a lot of time in proper camera shops, holding the various cameras to see which YOU like the best
You need a lens to shoot. There's a body only option because some people already have lenses.
Just get it with the kit 18-55mm.
