Beretta Tikka t3 Tactical 308 vs Remington 700sps tactical 308?
I'm in the market for a long range rifle. I'm looking to get one good for a thousand yards. I have the funds available for either a Beretta Tikka T3 tactical chambered in 308 win, or a Remington 700 sps Tactical (both with a heavy barrel) i also have the funds available for either leupold or nikon glass to make the thousand yard shot. From what I'm told, both rifles can make this shot, but i would like to know if anyone has the experience making these shots or if they would recommend a different long range rifle.
I have a Remington 700 SPS in.308 and I can say it's a great rifle. You won't have any regrets buying one.
I have the older Remington 700p which is the same as the sps tactical except for the stock. I love this gun. It will shoot 1 inch groups at 100 yards all day with federal gold medal match. With handloads it shoots 1/4 to 1/2 inch groups. As far as 1000 yards goes, that's a long way for a.308. Yes it can be done, however there are calibers out there that do a much better job. Don't get me wrong, the 208 is great and I love mine, but if you are looking to hit targets at that range I would suggest a different caliber, for instance the 300 win mag or 6.5 Creedmoor. If you are looking for other options as far as rifles go, CZ's 550 Magnum is a great choice as well as Savage's 110 BA if you don't mind spending that kind of money. If you are set on the 308 the Remington is a great choice. That or Winchester's Model 70 Stealth. The controlled round feed of the Winchester is a nice feature.
