Should I Take my DSLR to HighSchool?

I just shifted to nyc about like 3-4 months ago and I got into high school as a freshman. I like photography, I use a nikon d7100 with 18-140mm lens, usually back in my country our school did not allow any electronics so I could never take it to my school. I was an official photographer back than for my school and I would take it in events. My work also got published in a magazine. So I was thinking is it okay?/weird to take a dslr in school with you because all you could capture is your friends. My school don't have any restrictions. My cousin is a senior official photographer in another school and I also want to be one in mine, so yeah. What do I usually capture inside the school except friends?

Teachers and students who aren't friends. After school activities. Does your school have a yearbook? Join the team.

Wait till September and see what your school is like first. See what the school policies are and see how safe you feel having an expensive camera with you at that school.

Once you've been there a month or so, you'll have a better sense of whether or not this is a good idea.
