How to get rid of black borders on your YouTube videos?

I have the the Nikon cool pix l820 and when I put the video to HD it makes black borders around the video how so I get rid of those

You can't make the video HD. Your camera has to make an HD video.
According to the camera's specifications, your camera has a few video settings. Set the camera to produce video, go into the menu and set it for 1920X1080 Full HD. This should eliminate the letterboxing (black bars) on the output.
