My wife and I are getting into photography I'm getting a nikon d7000, my wife has chose the nikon d5100. The d7000 comes with the 18-105 and a 70-300. The d5100 comes with the 18-55 and a 55-300. My question is will the lenses be interchangeable with one another, and also when I buy lenses in the future will they also be interchangeable with one another.

ANY Nikkor AF-S lens will work flawlessly on both cameras

In the future, just buy AF-S lenses for both cameras and all will be well.

Your D7000 had the added advantage of being able to use the older legacy Nikkor AF lenses. On your wife's camera, she will have to manually and AF lenses using the electronic rangefinder in the cameras viewfinder

Here is a link to all the current Nikkor lenses.

You should realize that the D7000 has an internal focusing motor and the D5100 does not. That means the D7000 will autofocus AF and AF-S lenses, while the D5100 will only autofocus AF-S lenses.

This is not a problem with the 18-105, but the $170 AF 70-300 will not autofocus on the D5100, but the $600 AF-S 70-300 will.

You will be limited to AF-S lenses if you want both cameras to autofocus on every lens you buy. And you are limiting yourself to lens selection if you ignore AF lenses, as there are still a lot of them that are very nice lenses.
