What are some specialty lenses for a Nikon D80?

I wanted to surprise my wife who is really into photography with a lens for Christmas. She's not interested in the fish eye lens. What are some other ones I can get her? I have 100 to 200 to spend for one.

One popular "specialty lens" is the Nikkor Macro lens, but it costs a lot more than $100- $200.

Here is a list of all the lenses Nikkor makes.

You may find one that fits your budget and is not one she already has.

If you don't know what she does want, it is probably not worth thowing away $200 on something that happens to be $200.

How good is her tripod? If there's a use for a better one, that might be a good application of $200. If you are looking at new tripods, then do you want to emphasize portability or height?

The lenses you will be able to get for that price include the Nikon AF 50mm f/1.8, AF-S 50mm f/1.8, or the AF-S 35mm f/1.8. I suppose these days you could consider them specialty lenses as they are good for low light.

You could also get the 55-200mm but I would not consider that a specialty lens, it is just a telephoto lens. And it will not have VR for that price (the VR version is $300).So it depends on how accomplished of a photographer she is whether or not VR is important (VR = vibration reduction).
