Why won't windows media player play my video

I just got a new laptop. I'm trying to upload a video from my nikon digital camera and it won't play on windws media player it just says it won't support the file.i've never had a problem with my camera on any other computer. How can i get it to work?

I had that problem too. Its with the format and stuff. I downloaded a free video converter and just converted the videos to i think WMW format.something like that and then it worked.
