You usually get what you pay for. If it's too cheap, it generally means it's not too good. There are obviously plenty of cameras that are better than the MV800. Probably, the worst thing about it is it's image quality… Which is not so good. That's because it has too many MP (16.2MP) crammed onto a very small sensor.

From some reviews…
"It's not all a bed of roses - the image quality isn't that great"
"Unfortunately, the quality of the pictures and the low quality of the screen let it down."
"Image and video quality are nothing special"

Believe it or not, Canon cameras do actually produce very good image quality…

Well in my experience the Samsung MV800 is an "okay" camera. The best camera that may be good for you is a Nikon COOLPIX L120, and it costs $299.00 which is what is costs through the website below.

Details Below:

- Nikon COOLPIX L120 14.1 MP
- Digital Camera with 21x NIKKOR Wide-Angle Optical Zoom Lens
- 3-Inch LCD
- 5-way VR Image Stabilization System
- EXPEED C2 for enhanced image quality and processing speed
- 3-inch Ultra-High Resolution (921, 000-dot) Clear Color Display

On amazon, the camera has 127 five star ratings!

The cameras from this website are the best cameras that I have used and recommend.http://www.matthewsdigitalprintsblog.com/products.html

There are so many great cameras out there in your budget. I have a list of all the best point and shoot cameras in under $400:

Out of these i suggest the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 10.1 MP Digital Camera with 3.8x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD. It is so much better then the mv600. This camera is currently ranked as number 2 in the top 100 point and shoot cameras on amazon whereas the mv600 is not even in the top 100. Its features are:

- 10.1-megapixel CCD captures enough detail for photo-quality poster-size prints
- 3.8x F2.0 ultra-wide-angle 24mm Leica DC Vario-Summicron lens
- 3.0-inch Intelligent LCD; Record HD videos in AVCHD Lite; Creative Movie mode
- Venus Engine FHD image processor; hot shoe for easy accessorization
- Capture images to SD/SDHC memory cards
