Which is better, a Canon or a Nikon?

Buying a new DSLR, a Canon or a Nikon considering camera of the same price.

There's little to choose between them. I have always had Canon and been happy with them, but i do like the nikons.

Nikon. I've got a friend working at the photography shop. She mentioned that complains received from customers for faulty item, mostly purchase Canon product.

They both are excellent cameras now both are on a level digital playing field, i like both. Decide your budget then decide.

I prefer Canon but they are pretty much equal except for a few differences. Here is a link comparing them to help you decide.

Both are good but Canon is little more.

None. It's not like millions of photographers are wrong with going with Nikon, or that Canon has 15% better quality. DSLRs have so similar quality…

What is your max budget? Canon EOS T2i, T3i, Nikon D3100 and D5100 are great.

Both good, but favour nikon for build and pic quality

Depends at what price…

1100D is around the same as D3100.

D90 is better value than 60D, but 60D is better camera than D90.

7D is better than D7000, but D300S is better than 7D.

5D mark II is better than D700 except in low light where the D700 is better.

D3S is better than D3

D3X is better than the 1Ds mark III, but the 1Ds mark IV is here soon which will be better than the D3X.

Overall the Canon EF mount is more versatile and comprehensive.

And a Hasselblad is better than everything.

The only real reason to buy one over the other is if you already have other equipment (lenses, flash heads) for one brand.

Otherwise, you could flip a coin.
