They are basically the same. They're both entry-level models but the D5200 is a tad better due to the articulated LCD. You'll get the same results no matter what you get. Since both are old models, I'm assuming you're buying old. In that case, make sure you test the camera first before paying. If you have the chance to test both, see which is better and get that one.

1) Canon's equivalent of the D5200 is the EOS 750D.

2) It's the skill of the photographer that makes the difference.

3) I'd take Pentax over either.
