Which DSLR camera for a beginner?

I'm quite young and really getting into photography. I would like to get a good SLR camera and was wondering if there's a difference between Canon and Nikon, whether price or quality. Any suggestions?

I think an Olympus Interchangable lens camera would probably be best for a beginner, on the other hand, the Olympus Interchangable lens camera's are on the expensive side. Around 200$ or something along those lines. It's a great camera for taking pictures, of yourself, others, or random things around your house/outside. It's an especially great camera if you plan on turning your photography into a career. Nikon's are great camera's but tend to be Really expensive. For example the Nikon 1 J1, is 799$. I've seen sales but there hasn't been much of a price difference. And canon, that brand has also great camera's. But if you're just getting into photography, I think you should get a used camera, especially if you're clumsy and tend to drop things easily.

I quit recommending these high quality, very sophisticated cameras to beginners who know nothing about cameras or photography. Too many come back with disappointment because the camera doesn't do everything for them.

I recommend staying with a pocket toy until you actually learn something about these cameras and photography.
