I'm buying a DSLR to get into photography and as i'm a beginner i would need a professional opinion on the subject of which beginner camera is best. I have been looking at the Panasonic lumix G10 12.1MP Digital Camera with 14-42mm Lens for 443.99 euro, the Canon EOS 1000D 10MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens for 419.99 euro, the Olympus E-450 10MP Digital SLR Camera with 14-42mm Lens for 359.99 euro, the Sony A290 14MP Digital SLR Camera With 18 to 55 Lens for 419.99 euro and the Nikon D3000 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens for 419.99 euro. Right now i'm leaning more towards the Panasonic lumix or the Canon EOS. If you have any recommendations among these or any better recommendations for around th price of 250-450 euros then please explain

If the nikon D3100 doesn't fit this budget I'd go with the olympus

If you have narrowed it down to the Canon EOS 1000D and the Panasonic Lumix G10 and you are looking for a DSLR, then the Canon is your answer. The G10 is an "interchangeable lens camera," but it is not a DSLR. It has a half-sized sensor which will create some limitations compared to the other cameras you have listed.

If you are still considering Nikon then look for a D3100 and not a D3000.It is the current model and has a better sensor with better image quality and low light performance than the older D3000.

Just to confuse the issue, don't overlook the Pentax K-x for a value leader. It's a good camera.

Add'l:

Although they seem to make out with it, be aware that the Olympus also has the "half size" sensor. This is great for keeping the cost of your glass down, but it makes it hard to get a suitable wide-angle lens.

Panasonic G10 isn't a DSLR.

Any of the others would be good starter models. Best thing to do to find out which one's best for YOU is to go into a camera shop & try them all out. Check where buttons are & whether menu items are easily found. Check the weight & feel of each & shoot a few test frames.
