Nikon SLR Cameras

Which camera to get? Sony A55, A700, or A560?

I currently have a Sony a230. For the past few months I've been taking photos for people (at a low price considering the camera I'm working with). No judging or rude comments on that please. I'd like to upgrade my equipment. I have around $700 to spend on a used camera. Video isn't important to me. I'm wanting something with better low light capabilities, faster fps, and higher resolution. Which Sony camera would be best. I've looked at all the specs for each camera, but I'm asking for advice based on experience with the cameras.

Please don't suggest I get a Nikon or Canon because that's not going to happen.

There's a website that compares cameras.

You are already earning with a low-end camera. What more would you want? Why not spend that cash of some lenses like the 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4 for better portraits or a 35mm f/1.8 for people in general. The lower the f/number of the lens, the better for low light conditions. You don't need fast FPS in doing portraits unless you're papparazi. If that's the case, use the money to buy the most number of mm in a lens you can afford.

People pay you for taking their pictures, not for looking at the model of your camera. Don't be scared to raise your price if you think YOU are WORTH it. It's the photographer who makes the picture. The camera is just a tool.

The A700 is a very good camera, but it is also a very old (in digital terms) camera. This would be my major concern with the model… Just how used is it?

The A560 was a short-lived model betwen the A550 and the A580, but it is a very capable model.

The A55 has every bell and whistle you can get on a camera these days, is very small, can shoot faster than you need it to, and has very good low-light abilities.

Personally, I'd take the A560 from those three, just because the body is easier to handle for me than the A55. If it weren't so small, I'd take the A55. If you can find an A580 in your budget, that would be the best choice.
