What kind of shutter release do I need for a 35mm film Nikon?
My girlfriend wants to take pictures from a distance and I was wondering where I could buy one for a film camera. I don't know where to find them or how they look like. I'm so lost I just want to get her something cool and surprise her since she wants one so badly.
Here is where I would start: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/...ing+:++%24
It depends.
Autofocus SLRs often need a dedicated remote release, you'd be better to do a google search with the camera's make and model.
Manual focus models generally have a threaded hole drilled into the shutter release, this takes either a cable release (up to 2ft/60cm) or a pneumatic release, if you can find one (up to 20ft/6m).
Nikon has corded and wireless remotes for some of its film cameras. They are called Remote Release and Wireless Transmitters. You can access their manuals here.

You are going to need to know what model her camera is, such as F6 or F100.
What kind of Nikon. Does the shutter button have a threaded hole inside? If yes, you can something like this.

It will fit any camera brand with that hole.
If your camera's shutter release button is smooth, you will need a shutter remote that is compatible to your camera model.
