My Nikon D5000 doesn't work with cable release or infrared release anymore?
It worked for a little while, now it doesn't seem to recognise either remotes, I was wondering if it may be the camera body and if there's anything I can do to fix it?
We'll you set the menus so your camera is in remote mode.
Is your camera in active mode (as opposed to sleep mode)? Tap the shutter release to wake the camera up. Then try your remote.
The remote mode only stays on for a set number of minutes after the last shot. This timeout period is settable in the menus. See page 157, item C4 in your manual. After the timeout period, the camera goes to sleep which means the remote won't work.
