WHAT IS EVERYTHING I NEED FOR WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY?
I want to buy a Dslr Camera and have been researching photography for weeks now. Everything is so expensive even some tripods are more expensive than cameras? That's Crazy! My budget is $2200 For everything. Camera, lens, tripod, filters, etc.
So what do you guys recommend? Such as Tripod, or canon over nikon?
First off, you need a camera. I would go for a dslr. The Canon t3i would be a good choice.body only, it is about $675. I would then get a lens, like the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens, it is around $200. You can get a good tripod from $30-70.a mono pod would be good for wildlife photos while walking.depending on how long you will be out and about, look into a battery grip. They can double the battery life and create still images in free hand. They are from $150-200 for the canon brand. Get a lens cap and a body cap for your camera. They run about $10 for each.a good lens hood wouldn't hurt either, they are about $10. You would also need a gear bag to carry all your equipment. They are about $35.
Are you sure you need a DSLR to start with. There are some really nice point and shoot made by Sony, Nikon, Canon, and others that will do a nice job. You need a functional tripod, and a mini tripod, not a fancy studio model. You are going out into the bush and fields, not a dust free studio full of models.
You need macro and telephoto functions. If you get more advanced, use alense doubler. Not the highest quality option, but it is lower budget. It will work if you practise with it.
You need a waterproof or at least weather resistant camera.
You need a large capacity memory card(s) so that you are not fiddling with stuff in the middle of a field full of dust and floating seeds, and you need a hard drive or other storage device so that your photos are in two places. There's nothing like bush, rain storms, and salt water to cause equipment failures.
You need a good Lowepro camera bag. They make a bag that you carry as a back pack, but can swing around to the front easily.
If you are doing animals, you could consider one of those deer blinds that you set up in a tree. Safer if there are bears around. Don't tangle with a moose either. Cabela has a lot of gear that is directed to hunters, but is very useful for photographers as well. Look them up on "The Net". They have a beautiful catalogue.
Are you going to roam locally and not go too far? Or are you going to wander over hill and dale, going for miles in remote regions? Do you have any experience as a camper, in remote regions? Do you have any camping gear? Do you have a GPS if you are going there?
Find your local camera shop and go there and tell them what you want to do. They will ask you the right questions, and they will come up with some serious recommendations as to what camera and accessories you need.
Too broad of a question…
