What is a really good digital SLR camera?

I'm looking for a really goog high quality digital SLR camera, I hear that Nikon is better than cannon but I'm really not sure.

Added (1). I'm not looking for something too big or too expensive, more like a middle range slr.

Depending on your budget, you should try Nikon D3100/ D5100. If needed you can go in for 18-105 lens or a 55-200mm lens along with it.

Nikon and Canon are roughly equal in quality. It's a matter of taste.

Maybe the best DSLR is the Hasselblad H4D-60, and it sells for only $42, 000.
